A legacy rooted in Columbia, South Carolina craftsmanship

Lafaye Custom Homes is built on more than craftsmanship. It is built on a legacy that began over a century ago.

George Eugene Lafaye

In 1900, George Eugene Lafaye settled in Columbia, South Carolina, and established an architectural firm known for exceptional design and uncompromising standards. His work helped shape the character of the city, and his vision can still be seen today in some of Columbia's most admired historic structures.

Generations of building excellence

That tradition continued with his son, W. Lucas Lafaye, who earned his degree in architecture from Clemson University in 1939 and later became president of Lafaye-Tarrant Construction Company. Over the next 45 years, Lucas Lafaye and Guy Tarrant led the completion of many significant commercial projects throughout Columbia and the surrounding region.

The line runs from there straight to today. W. Lucas Lafaye's daughter is Lucas Bunch's mother, which makes Lucas his grandson.

Lucas Bunch came to building through the trades, working in construction from 2000 to 2008, and founded Lafaye Custom Homes in 2009. The first Lafaye custom homes went up on the back end of the Great Recession, and the company has been building in Columbia for seventeen years.

Today, that same dedication to timeless design and enduring quality lives on through Lafaye Custom Homes.
